AMA Supercross at San Diego

SBX Mag was stoked to catch the sixth stop on the tour of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross at San Diego, with the crew at Jeff Ward Racing. Jeff Ward, hugely respected in the motor sports world, has partnered up with Lucas Mirtl (owner of LM Action Sports Management), Mike Kranyak (from L&M Racing), Kevin Conway (Nascar Racer and Principal at Exclaim Marketing) as well as DNA Energy Drink and Kawasaki, to promote riders Kyle Chisholm and Josh Grant. X Games 16

When Nick Baumgartner stunned the Snowboarder X field and won his first gold medal in seven tries at last year’s Winter X Games, he ended one of the greatest winning streaks in X Games history. Nate Holland was determined to get that gold back, telling the crew at ESPN;
“I was pumped for Baumgartner. But I’ve had enough of that, and I want that gold back”
World Cup Opener at Telluride

This past week saw the first Snowboardcross World-Cup of the season at Telluride, CO. Athletes flew in from all over the globe to get their feet wet on an internationally renowned course against the world’s best SBX athletes. Telluride rolled out the red-carpet for the US Team who has come back for the last several years to train for weeks before this event, which has become a regular stop on the tour. The first World-Cup sets the tone for the season as athletes gear up for intense competition just two years out from the next Olympics.
The athletes were psyched about the new six-man heats which many feel results in a more exciting heat both to compete in and to watch. The event also unveiled the 2012 US Team and showcased another athlete favorite, the SBX TEAM event.
