Get Strong with Josh Lane

Josh Lane pumping it out!

While nobody wants to think of themselves as some sort of meathead jock, anyone who wants to make a legitimate run at racing is going to have to employ some sort of non-snow training regimen to keep up with top riders.

Knowing where to start with sport-specific strength training can be a very difficult task. Most of us can’t afford a personal trainer, let alone a private back-country training facility. This is where it pays to have friends. Good friends that are insanely strong, experienced, and willing to share some training tips with you in order to help you fortify your body and prepare you to take your riding to the next level. Enter Joshua Lane.

Joshua’s resume would make most super heroes take notice. He is a Medevac flight paramedic with 10 years of professional ski patrol experience at Stowe and Snowbird. He is a former pro-skier, current sponsored Crossfit competitor, and certified Crossfit trainer. You may not need to do 67 consecutive pull ups, squat 455lbs,  or run a 5:35 mile with a 35lbs weight vest, but it’s nice to know that he can, since he is the guy coming to drag you out of a crevice when you go OB and snap your femur. Lucky for you, he has also been kind enough to share a starter training plan for your early season needs.

Please keep in mind that this is only the start to a pre-season training plan. As we get closer to the season the plan will ramp-up the intensity, focus on more snowboard specific exercises, and keep progressing with you and your newfound physical abilities.
