The Crew
Editor-in-Chief After spending nearly a decade as an internationally ranked athlete in both Boardercross and Half-pipe, Zoë Anderson is far from a rookie. A tireless promotor of all things “X” Zoë has given up sleep entirely, working with leading Agents, Managers, Legal-geeks, Artists, Photographers, Entrepreneurs and Internet Savages to promote not just the sport of Snowboardcross, but action sports in general. If you have a question about how to advance your career as an athlete, Zoë can probably answer it – if not, she can put you in touch with the people who can.
Sports Editor Michael Villa honed his craft by devoting himself to relentlessly devouring the timeless oversized classics of Calvin & Hobbes. He finds books without illustrations to be both wordy and highfalutin. His insightful writings have been published in a variety of action sports and lifestyle publications, yet he is still very impressed with himself every time he is able to type a sentence without looking at his hands. Technically, he could be considered an industry veteran with a wealth of experience in nearly every aspect of the business, but he prefers to think of himself as tall and thin.
Business Manager Gavin Bechtold specialized in Business Management at Penn State. Shortly after graduation, Gavin left the East coast and landed in South Lake Tahoe, CA just in time for the 2011 La Nina ‘winter of all winters.’ Gavin spent his Tahoe days working at Heavenly Mountain Resort and tirelessly pursuing untracked powder stashes. As mother nature slowly released it’s snowy grip on the Sierras, Gavin headed south to Southern California; to catch some waves, rays, and babes. When he isn’t busy getting barreled, Gavin makes sure the crew at SBX Mag doesn’t just rock out to music all day long.
Marketing & PR Manager When we asked our PR girl Forel Davies to describe herself, this is what she had to say; “I’m Forel. And if you ask me if I’m For Real, I’d pretend like I haven’t heard it before, but I’d be lying.” An accomplished surfer and certified hooligan, Forel grew up in Leucadia, California, running the streets with her hood-rat friends, doing hood-rat things. When Forel is not making us laugh our asses off all day long, she plays professional water polo for the Australian National Team.
Health & Fitness Editor Just another pro athlete on our roster of super talented individuals, Joshua Lane is Sponsored by Crossfit, “Life as RX.” Josh can bench press you AND your crew. That’s right. After spending a decade as a professional skier, Josh is a Flight Paramedic. He’s the guy who rescues you with a collapsed lung & shattered femur out in the gnarliest backcountry when there are no other options. Josh’s no nonsense attitude toward fitness is sure to get you in the best shape of your life so you can simply crush (or at least bench press) the competition.
